Thank you! Your Support Allows this Work to Continue
The practical, effective, self-help tools and support provided by Outpost For Hope empower families and agencies to navigate through the often-hidden segments of marginalized existence in our society, where our loved ones can drop so far out of the main stream that they become hidden among us. The Lost Are Everywhere Our research, which is based on 11 years of experience, real case stories, and statistical analysis, shows there are more than one million people including children, teens and at risk persons who are unreported as missing. They are not featured on any 'have you seen me?' postcards, or listed in any official law enforcement databases. Right now, in your community, there could be dozens, even hundreds of off the grid missing persons. If you have a homeless population in your city, the numbers of 'missing, missing' may be higher . Many of the 'missing, missing' are unseen victims of exploitative crimes such as human trafficking or prostitution. Others end up as unidentified John or Jane Does at the morgue. The problem of unreported missing has reached the proportion of a social epidemic and it continues to grow. The need is real and urgent for us to do more to help the most vulnerable of our society. And for that, we need help from people like you, who understand that every life has value and every contribution makes a difference. Your Gifts Save Lives Consider the harsh realities faced by women and teenage girls on the streets who are not listed as "missing" with any law enforcement agency. And what of the unknown child who may be with a drug addicted and mentally ill mother? Predators and serial killers count on you not to pay attention because marginalized women, teenage girls, and their children are the easiest prey for those who know they may not be missed. For example, in 2004, Gary Leon Ridgeway, known as The Green River Killer, confessed to murdering 48 teenage girls and women over two decades. "I picked them as victims because they were easy to pick up without being noticed," Ridgeway said, according to an Associated Press report. "I knew they would not be reported missing right away and might never be reported missing. I picked them because I thought I could kill as many as I wanted without getting caught." Several of Ridgeway's victims still remain as unidentified Jane Does today. Each and every one of these women were someone's daughter, mother, sister or friend. Your Gifts Teach Others By supporting Outpost for Hope, you can help us provide education and training to law enforcement and other agencies, while we continue to provide self-help information, tools and resources for families who are searching for their lost loved ones. Your Gifts Provide Hope With your support, we can continue to ease the frustration that comes from navigating a complex system of danger, dead ends, red-tape and bureaucracy. We can continue to provide hope through information and positive action. And we can continue to help families experience the joy of reunification or the relief of closure. Every dollar you give is important and significant.
