Crisis Intervention Training
Law enforcement often encounters people in crisis and are sometimes faced with few options besides handcuffs and jail that may not provide appropriate mental and/or medical attention for a mentally ill person.
Crisis Intervention Team Training (CIT) is an innovative program that can help law enforcement officers to respond to a crisis at any time. The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program is a community partnership started by Major Sam Cochran of the Memphis Police working with mental health consumers and family members. Officers are provided with the best quality training available to be part of a specialized crisis response team that works with the community to resolve each situation in a manner that shows concern for the citizen's well being.
